Linda Godfrey – Artist & Author
Books on strange creatures and places meld with cut paper collage in the work of author and cut paper collage artist Linda Godfrey, and she will present two newly published books at KMST 2010. “The Michigan Dogman, Werewolves, and Other Unknown Canines Across the USA” is the latest in her series on the Beast of Bray Road and similar creatures, and “Haunted Wisconsin; Ghosts and Strange Phenomena of the Badger State” explores mysterious locations statewide. She will sell and sign these as well as a selection of her other books at the tour in XnTrix Studio.
Godfrey has appeared on many national TV and radio shows including HC’s Monsterquest, the Sy-Fy’s New In Search Of, Travel Channel, Discovery Kids, Inside Edition, Fox News Sean Hannity, Coast to Coast AM, and National, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee Public Radio. She has been invited to address many institutions, libraries and groups in Wisconsin and other states.
Her artwork is represented commercially by Tom Stocki of The Art Factory in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and her cut paper collage clients have included American Lawyer, Scholastic Magazine, M&I Bank, Northwestern Publishing, Harcourt Brace, Lutheran Parent, and many others.
Her fine art collages use quality found papers to play with the structure and lighting of plants, animals, architecture and people and their abstract reflections. Often she incorporates frames as part of the composition. Quiet humor permeates many of the artworks, which she thinks of as “paper paintings.”
