Photographer William Lemke provides the following as his background and aesthetic aim: “For over 25 years I have been photographing the landscape. I feel closeness to the environment that goes back to childhood. When I started taking photographs as a high school student, my first subject was the natural landscape. Since the early images, I have concentrated on the West and its vast beauty and, more recently, on foreign destinations including Europe, Central America and Asia, again concentrating on the landscape. My ultimate goal is for the viewer to gain an appreciation for the natural world and its beauty and to see the importance in preserving it for future generations.
Working with large format cameras, Bill uses TriX and TmaX 100 film to capture the quality of light on silver as it works and plays on surfaces and atmospheres. Influenced by such masters of light as Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, Lemke is a professional with both academic and real world experience credentials.

His work is represented in the collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum, Miller Brewing Company, Walt Disney World, Wustum Museum, Wausau Public Library, Brigham Young Art Museum, and many others. He is a consistent award winner, assigned First Place and Awards of Mention through his many exhibitions throughout the United States. His shows and exhibitions, held in balance with an active commercial practice, includes the Wustum’s “Wisconsin Photography” exhibit, Ann Arbor Street Festival, the Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors show at Lawrence University, and the Gasparilla Sidewalk Art Festival in Tampa, Florida among others.
